Combined Elements for Architecture

I am still amazed with the newly-renovated Manila Cathedral. I would always open my phone's gallery and take a glimpse at shots I've taken last October 31, 2014. The cathedral displays an example of how color, texture, natural lighting, and artificial lighting [when combined] can create a magnificent architecture.

A Building and a Sunset

I completed my Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning last Semester. Finally had the chance to graduate under the Philippine's finest university - University of the Philippines Diliman - last April 27, 2014. I'm really fascinated by how this building was well placed. A good site planning, indeed, creates real drama.

Piece of Light

Bright lights glow with joy as if they too have their own happiness to share as our students graduate from college. This lovely chandelier can be seen at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Reception Hall. Such a lovely piece to begin with. So lovely that I have to lie down on the floor in the midst of graduating students and marshals just to have this shot. April 2014.

Reptilian Eye

There's always a perception for everything.
And that perception is being transformed into judgement.

This reptilian eye in colored pencil was drawn by me during my visit in Iloilo last December 2013. It was just a simple exercise for me to at least practice my childhood talent.

Energy-boosting Sunset

University of the Philippines, Diliman. Taken last December 9, 2013. This captivating scene greeted me as I was waiting for a jeepney to ride back to work. My Mondays have never been jam-packed until this 2nd semester. My usual Monday routine starts with a morning lecture at Manila; followed by an afternoon class at UP; and ends with a night lecture at Manila. I am juggling work and study all at the same day. Good thing that this view somehow activated my energy.

Back in Manila

I made this quick shot yesterday while riding on an airport taxi. I'm back here in Manila to continue my career. I didn't imagine that my visit in Iloilo, my hometown, would be a mixture of laughter and tears. Until now, I still can't get over with the kind of feeling I had. I guess, I really miss my family. Well, I need to do this for them as what I've stated on my blog post yesterday right before I left Iloilo. Read the article, "Leaving Home: Sacrifices, Tears, and Dreams".

Fountain of Light

Another photo taken last night at Plazuela de Iloilo. This fountain was the building's facade piece. It wasn't really big. Just enough to illuminate the spot and to entertain visitors with its water movement. In architecture, fountains serve to cool the place because water particles were being scattered by wind. Thus, the atmosphere becomes cooler and more relaxing.

Path of Choices

This was taken last year when we (United Architects of the Philippines Makati Greenbelt Chapter officers) had our team building/planning session at Anvaya Cove Beach & Nature Club. Life is a journey, no doubt about that. We need to take a step at a time.. and each step requires choices and perseverance. We may have taken wrong choices along our way, but the most important part is... we keep on moving forward.

Arriving Home

Arriving home in Iloilo (December 23, 2012) after more than five years is such a meaningful moment. It was my first time to come home as an Architect and as an academician. Arriving home became so meaningful because of this sunset, which greeted me while I was riding on a car. This quick shot was taken while the car was still moving. A quick move just to capture this great moment.

Dramatic Sky

A breath-taking view greeted me goodbye as I was leaving Savannah, one of those subdivisions in Iloilo. Skies in provinces really differ from Metro Manila. By the moment skies begin to display its usual play, the result is truly dramatic.

Night Lights at Iloilo Esplanade

We spent our New year night by visiting Iloilo Esplanade. It is a new strip of development in Iloilo, which promotes walkability. I was impressed with how they made use of the Iloilo river. Night lights plus reflections equals captivating.

Plazuela Sky

I got the chance to visit Plazuela de Iloilo earlier. I was toured by my family in order for me to experience the place. Good thing that our timing was just right. I was able to caught the dramatic play of the sky. My whole visiting experience won't be complete without this view.
